Flappy Bird Review
Flappy Bird for the iPhone Takes over the World by Storm
First it was Angry Birds, then Tiny Wings….and now it is Flappy Bird. I guess the “angry” part has been transferred to the user. After a few hours of play, you will definitely feel angry at some point.
The world is being bombarded by a new, lovable bird-fish hybrid: “Flappy Bird”. The game’s premise is simple: you repeatedly tap the screen to keep a little bird flying while avoiding pipe obstacles. While the gameplay is simple, many of the reviews look something like this: “Flappy bird is by far THE MOST annoying game I’ve played yet. I literally just want [to] throw my phone across the room and yell out ‘SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TEACH THAT BIRD HOW TO FLY!!’ With that being said, however, I believe this game is pure genius” (user “Can it be Greater?” on the App Store).
Despite the game’s original publishing in May of last year, it only just exploded in recent weeks. The exact reason is unclear, but it seems to have spread like wildfire through social media. The game holds over 100,000 four star or better reviews on the iTunes App store, and currently holds the #1 spot for free apps. It’s also available on the Android App Store, currently sitting at a respectable #4 on the top downloads list, behind Social Media Apps Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The best advice for anyone downloading “Flappy Bird for the iPhone”: get a phone case.
